"Helping People Ride Better Horses"
The Waxhaw Mounted Patrol (WMP) is a volunteer organization which is comprised of a small, but effective number of competent horsemen and women under the direction of Mark Hausman. The Mounted Patrol is a subsidiary of the Waxhaw Emergency Response Team and as such, operates with the permission and supervision of the Waxhaw Police Departments Chief of Police, Mike Eiss.
The mission of the WMP is "to maintain and deploy a highly trained force of mounted patrolmen and women at the discretion of the Waxhaw Police Departments Chief of Police.
Activities include: crowd control, mounted search, public relations, and providing a visible determent to crime while acting as ambassadors for the town of Waxhaw.
Although this is a "volunteer" organization, you can't just sign up and be a member. All persons wishing to become "certified" WMP members must be personally certified by Mark Hausman. All horses and riders will be rigidly tested on several different occasions to determine suitability for Mounted Patrol Duty.
